So Tech City, in the heart of London’s East End welcomes Google as its newest resident.

Google is to open a multimillion-pound “technology community centre” in London’s East End, as part of the government’s plans to create a Tech City in the capital. The seven-floor building will act as a shared space for the growing cluster of internet companies based in the heart of London’s so-called “Silicon Roundabout”, the internet giant said.

Full details can be found here; http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2011/sep/28/google-london-startup-centre?newsfeed=true

Cogs recently went along to an Incubator Event through Accelerator-London where Eric Van Der Kleij CEO of Tech City Investment was speaking. Tech City Investment is responsible for bringing investment into London and Shoreditch in particular and it was great to see so many start-ups there giving their voice and opinion as to what should be happening (getting rid of the term Silicon Roundabout will be a great start)

We love working with start-ups and are looking at many different ways we can help. If you’re thinking of starting up or already are and are finding it difficult to find or retain talent to sustain your growth, then do please get in touch with me here at harry@cogsagency.com as we would be delighted to discuss how we can be of service.

By all accounts Lars Bastholm, Chief Creative Officer at Ogilvy New York isn’t particularly impressed with the quality of digital work that has come out of the agency in the past year. Thanks to AgencySpy for this piece of news.

Interestingly in the letter, Lars cites Google Creative as somewhere to look at for inspiring digital work, and we wholeheartedly agree with him. Check it out here:

https://docs.google.com/present/view?id=0Abmo0iWBO2gEZGY3cnc3dnpfMzM4Y3o2bmduZDY&hl=en&authkey=CJ2Ug_IF

Now this raises another poignant question – who else is unhappy with their digital output? – we’d love to hear from you and more importantly why you think the work doesn’t meet the grade. Strictly off the record you understand.

Have you ever thought of an App that would be incredible useful, but don’t have the technological knowledge to put the idea into motion? Well that maybe a thing of the past…

According to an article published by the BBC, the days of App ignorance are finally behind us, due to Google’s release of tools that “make it easy for anyone to create programs for Android phones”.

The App Inventor was created by a group of super tech wizards at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the idea is based around the structure of Lego blocks, whereby you move the boxes of code around to make the applications.

Don’t believe how simple it is? Check it out here

What are your thoughts on The App Inventor? Have you any brilliant app ideas that you’ve been dying to get your hands on?

“..got to the very heart of what they are about and what they can do for you. A simple concise exposition of what it is that’s made them masters of the Universe. And unlike all that Bud shit, it didn’t cost them a fucking arm and a leg to tell the story beautifully.”
